"It is written in Isaiah the prophet:
'I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way'
'a voice of one calling in the desert, "Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.'" Mark 1:2-3
I know how hard it is sometimes to actually sit down and read the word of the Lord. What I am about to attempt is me trying to keep my prayer life, and reading of the Word more in check. In essensence, you could say that all of you that read these blogs are my accountibility partners. What I will attempt to do is comment on the passages that jump out at me and I will write some short devotional on the passages. This is not to prove that I know anything at all but a reflection on my life and what they are saying to me at the time of the devotional. It may be passed onto your life to reflect some of God's truth. I am not sure but take whatever it is worth to you.
It is amazing at times when you read a certain passage and it reminds you of particular song that you sing in church. This one makes me hum the end of the first verse of "Days of Elijah". We have sung this song many of time and at times to myself it is Greek to me as to what the song is all about. Some of it is about John the Baptist preparing the way for Jesus' earthly ministry and then ultimately the saving grace to the entire world and also the most amazing day that the earth will ever experience: the second coming of Jesus from the clouds. That faithful day when the human race has no choice but to bow in one knee and proclaim him as the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. I hope at that day that I am not on one knee or on two knees but prostrate on my face with fear and trembling but with much rejoicing as well.
But what this passage also puts into perspective is also the huge responsibility that was put upon John the Baptist to prepare the nations for the new Heavenly King. Also, we are at a time now that we need to be John the Baptists as well. Just like John the Baptist prepared the world for the Kings first appearance we too need to be preparing the world that is around us and that we live in for the second appearance of the true King of the universe. We read on later in this chapter that John the Baptist was a simple man with his clothing and by what he ate but he understood the message that he proclaimed. We do not need to be preachers, evangelists, or people of great wealth, power and wisdom to share the great news of Jesus Christ saving grace and power to the nations before us. We can be the simplist to get a great message across. What am I doing to prepare the world today for the second coming of our Lord today!
"Lord, let me be a guiding light unto the world today. Give me the strength and courage when it seems just a little too hard for me at the moment. Let me prepare those around me for the second coming with your mercy! Amen"
